What is an ETL safety listing?
The ETL Mark is proof of product compliance to North American safety standards. Authorities Having Jurisdiction(AHJs) and code officials across the US and Canada accept the ETL Listed Mark as proof of product compliance to published industry standards. Retail buyers accept it on products they’re sourcing.
Is ETL UL Listed?
The difference between ETL Listed and UL Listed is that ETL means a product was tested and approved by Intertek Testing Services (formerly Edison Testing Laboratories), and UL means it was tested and approved by Underwriters Laboratories. Both are Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories.
How do I view ETL files?
The easiest way is probably to open the ETL file in Event Viewer. Click Start, then type Event Viewer and open the Event Viewer utility. Then click Action > Open Saved Log and navigate to C:\Windows\Logs to open the ETL file you’re interested in.
What is an ETL control number?
The control number issued by Intertek for the applicant and manufacturer combination. This five to eleven digit number is unique to the manufacturing site for each applicant. The most common area to include the control number is under the ETL mark, which is where Intertek would request it to be placed.
Is ETL mandatory?
The primary reason UL and ETL ratings exist is to help ensure that products and components are safe. It is recognized that when purchasing these products there will be less issues that can cost companies money. These certifications are not legally required in any industry, but many are financially encouraged to get it.
Is ETL better than UL?
None. Aside from the body that issues the listing, there is absolutely no difference between a UL listing and an ETL listing. Because Intertek ETL tests products to previously published UL Standards for Safety, products marked as ETL Listed meet exactly the same criteria as those marked UL Listed or UL Recognized.
Can ETL files be deleted?
ETL files are known as Event Tracing Logs. Yes, it can be deleted, but without know what program is creating that event file, it may come back.
Where are ETL files stored?
ETL File Location Event trace logs are stored under the “Panther” folder of the Windows directory on the computer’s hard drive (“C:\Windows\Panther”). Other logs may be found in “C:\Windows\Logs.”
