Emtek’s products are a cut above in terms of craftsmanship and design. Each order is custom assembled in our Southern California facility. Founded in 1981, Emtek has decades of experience creating door hardware.

Are Emtek levers reversible?

Privacy Function: Emtek’s privacy door hardware features a locking mechanism on the interior for use on bedroom and bathroom doors where locking is needed. The exterior side features a small pin hole to unlock the door hardware from the outside. Features: Reversible handing installs on both left or right handed doors.

Both companies’ locks are more expensive than those of low-end lock makers, but Emtek locks are generally less expensive than Baldwin locks. Emtek lock sets are assembled to order, which potentially gives them an advantage over Baldwin products in terms of design flexibility.

What is Emtek hardware made of?

Depending on the style of hardware ordered, our Emtek hardware could be made from 1 of 3 types of metal. There is a solid forged brass collection, a wrought steel collection or a sandcast bronze collection. Regardless of metal type, all Emtek hardware is completely solid.

Are Emtek locks any good?

Regardless of metal type, all Emtek hardware is completely solid. Their quality is comparable to Baldwin, Grandeur, Nostalgic Warehouse or any other high end line of door locks. Emtek hardware is also completely solid making it much more heavy, durable and quality feeling.

Can you rekey an Emtek lock?

Unlike their more bulky commercial cousins, the Emtek electronic locks are smaller and look at home on the wooden door typical of a residential property. As a backup to technology, the EMtouch still has a traditional keyed cylinder which any locksmith can replace or rekey if needed.

Are Emtek knobs interchangeable?

Yes. Our door knobs are sold with knobs for both sides of the door, latch mechanism, strike plate and mounting screws. Emtek latches are not adjustable so you must select either 2 3/8″ or 2 3/4″ backsets.
