Do cadets become soldiers?
In college and after graduation, cadets find that the training and experience that they have received are assets – whether pursuing an Army or civilian career. When cadets complete the ROTC course, upon graduation, they become commissioned officers in the U.S. Army.
Is cadet a military rank?
Officer Cadet is a rank held by military cadets during their training to become commissioned officers.
Is a cadet considered a veteran?
To be considered a veteran, the student must have been released from active duty. Students who are currently attending a US military academy and ROTC students are not considered veterans.
How old do you have to be to join cadets NZ?

You must be at least 13 or in Year 9 at High School. Most people who join are between 13-15. Find your closest New Zealand Cadet Forces unit you may wish to serve with.
What is Cadets NZ?
New Zealand Cadet Corps Cadet Corps training includes drill, first aid, land based navigation, land-based Search and Rescue, survival skills and weapons safety training. A Cadet Skills competition is held annually, pitting the units from across New Zealand against each other to find the best overall.
