Can you use a photo printer for sublimation?
Not at all. You need a dedicated printer for a sublimation project. As the sublimation paper is not compatible with all printers, you need a special printer to use it properly.
Can you sublimate with an inkjet printer?
You can use a standard inkjet or laser printer to print onto this paper with your normal inks. You then place the paper onto your clothing and use a heat press, or in some cases, you can use an iron, and peel away the paper. Your design will then be stuck-on to your garment, and you will be able to see the transfer.
Are dye sub keycaps good?
Dye-sub is printed onto the keycaps, which may make you think that the durability is not very good, but it is the most durable method besides double-shot. This is the most durable method out of any keycap.
How does a dye sublimation photo printer work?
A dye sublimation printer works by heating a special ribbon containing solid inks. The ink sublimates, or become a gas without liquefying first. The process lays down varying amounts of three primary colors plus a clear coating onto the paper. The gas solidifies on the page, resulting in full-color images.
Can inkjet printers be used for sublimation?
These printers are often advertised as sublimation printers and are bought with sublimation in mind. These will always work with sublimation. Inkjet printers that have sublimation compatibility. Most budget Inkjet printers won’t have this compatibility, but upscale ones like the Epson Artisan 1430 Inkjet printer will.
